Well, quite a few things have happened since I left you. I'm now living in a castle -
- which is pretty darned nifty. All the neighbours are lovely, and the food's fine once you know what to avoid, so all is well. Except for the fire alarms.
Yes, in the past two days, we have had three fire alarms. Although, admittedly, one of these was a drill.
You see, the problem with living in one of the most flammable buildings in Britain (Founder's is insulated with straw and paraffin (to keep the rats out of the straw) and has a largely wooden structure...) is that it has incredibly sensitive fire alarms. Please, do not get me wrong, I am grateful for this fact. Faced with a cold half hour in the car park and a fiery death, I'd take the car park any day. But still...I'd rather not have either...
The problem is that people get back from the SU at 20 past 1 in the morning (as in the case of the first alarm) and decide (in what I suspect is a heavily inebriated state) that toast is a good idea...(despite being a catered hall we do have 'pantries' for snacks). This then leads to burnt toast, leading to smoke, leading to many grumpy, pyjama-clad students stood in the car park in the middle of the night.
My suggestion would be to either lock the pantries, or to cut the electricity, after a certain time - no toast, no smoke, no grumpy students. Sorted.
Well anyway, there's no big union night tonight (as far as I'm aware) so hopefully my sleep will be uninterrupted.

But although I complain, I am loving it here. Drama put on a hell of a lot of induction events, but it's obvious that they really care about us poor ickle freshers. And the more I hear about the course the more excited I get. I'm even looking forward to doing my required reading, nerd that I am.
Well, that's all from me for the minute. There'll be more updates from Studentland soon.
Ciao for now!
